PPE is a Mandatory Requirement for working on the Wasoqonatl Project.

This page lists the required items of PPE in order to work on the Wasoqonatl Project.

What You Need to Bring / Buy

  • CSA-approved Steel Toed Work Boots with ankle support
  • Hi-Vis Warm Winter Jacket (Class 2, Level 2, FR*)
  • Insulated Coveralls (Class 2, Level 2, FR*)
  • Rain Gear
  • Outerwear Work Pants

*FR clothing is only required for employees working in a live substation. 

What is Provided by Valard

  • Hard Hat
  • Hi-Vis Vest
  • Safety Glasses
  • Specialized PPE (i.e. High Impact / Cut Resistant Gloves, Respirators)

PPE Requirements

At a minimum all personnel at site must wear the following:

  • CSA-approved Safety Toed Boots with ankle support
    • Boots must have Green Triangle & Omega Symbol:
  • CSA-approved Hardhat
  • Work Gloves
  • CSA-approved Safety Glasses
  • High Visibility (Hi-Vis) Vest, Shirt, or Jacket
  • Long Sleeves & Long Pants

Hi-Vis Requirements

The CSA standard for high-visibility PPE is Class 2, Level 2. 

Flame Resistant Requirements

FR Clothing CAT 2

FR Clothing is only required for employees working in a live substation.

Arc Flash / Flame Resistant clothing with a minimum Arc Rating of 8.0 Cal/cm²:

  • Coverage must be from wrists to ankles (e.g. full-length pants and long-sleeved shirts). 
  • FR clothing can incorporate the high visibility requirement. If the FR clothing is not hi-vis, then a hi-vis FR garment (vest) must be worn over the top of FR clothing.

Questions

What if I already have blue or black coveralls?

Please wear an approved hi-vis vest over the darker coveralls. 

What if I wear glasses? Can I use side shields?

Two options are available:

  • Side shields with CSA-approved corrective lenses, or
  • CSA-approved glasses over corrective lenses
